CD Special Edition "Kurt Leimer and George Gershwin Piano Concertos"

The third CD of the Special edition Kurt Leimer presents Kurt Leimer's Piano Concerto No. 4 (1955) and George Gershwin's Concerto in F (1925), both recorded by Kurt Leimer. The premiere of Leimer's concerto took place at Carnegie Hall in New York on 14 October 1956 with Kurt Leimer (piano) and Leopold Stokowski (conductor). Two years later the same artists recorded the concerto with the Symphony of the Air-Orchestra New York for EMI. The tapes of this recording were used for this state-of-the-art re-edition of this once widely appreciated concerto. There was no other concerto as George Gershwin's Concerto in F, perhaps with the exception of Richard Strauss' Panathenäenzug op. 74, with which Leimer formed such an intimate and seemingly spontaneous connection. The concerto was composed and premiered by Gershwin in 1925. Leimer's special relationship with Gershwin's concerto is clearly demonstrated in the dazzling recording from 1972 with the Skyline Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Günther Neidlinger.
